The stats at The Counter give a rough idea of percentages online using different browsers. These days most people use IE or Firefox and there are less than 1% using Netscape. However the following gives you information about Netscape which used to be important for web designers.

Features supported by Netscape 4 and above.

Support for dynamic HTML (DHTML).
Limited support for Cascading Style Sheets Level 1 (CSS1)
Inline support for PNG graphics.
Integrated Macromedia Flash plug-in.
Support for Layers.

Features supported by Netscape 6 and above.

Support for XML and XUL,
Full support for Cascading Style Sheets Level 1 (CSS1)
Supports the W3C DOM (Level 1)
Support for JavaScript 1.5

Netscape and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)

Netscape 4.7 did not support them as fully as IE 5.x. Netscape 4.7 basically took the inheritance a step too far. Netscape 6.0 however had much better support for stylesheets and adheres much more closely to the web standards.
