Website TemplatesDesigning your pages depends on how much you want to do yourself. You can either build your pages from scratch or download a website template and modify it.
Designing the page from scratch requires an understanding of HTML, which is the code your browser sees. You can see this code if you click "View" then "Source" or "Page source" on the toolbar of your browser. Learning HTML is actually very easy and our site provides you with a free download called Web Page Teacher which will help you learn the basics of web page design. The pages you create can be viewed on your own pc or uploaded to your web host.
Download Web Page Teacher
After opening up, it will give you the following options...
Click on "Important! Do this first.. and it will prompt you to create a folder to store your web pages in. You can enter any name here such as My-Website.
Next click on "Create your first web page in 5 minutes". This will open an interactive tutorial which guides you through creating your first webpage using HTML and explains what each HTML tag is for. After 5 minutes you will have chosen the colours for your first web page, added a title, an image, a paragraph, and a couple of links.
This is only the start. As you learn more you will be able to create more complex and professional looking web pages yourself. Remember also simple is best!
When designing your page it is important to bear in mind the layout of the pages. For example you should have your header, footer and navigation in the same place on each page. A website template will help you get a professional looking design, which you can modify using your web page editor. More tips on web page layout here.
The next step is to upload your webpage to your web host.
