Search Engine Submission

Maximize Your Site's Visibility

You might be confused by all the inconsistent information concerning search engines and your site's visibility. You've seen the ads of companies that claim they can submit your site to 1,000 or even 2,000 search engines.

Do you want to know the truth?

Over 95% of those sites are FFA link sites. There are less than 100 true search engines on the Internet today and only some of those will generate any traffic for you.

Following are some tips that will explain how to maximize your traffic from search engines.

TIPS FOR SUBMITTING TO SEARCH ENGINES

1) Best way to submit your site - The best way to get your site indexed on the search engines is to get it linked from one of the main directories, Yahoo, Dmoz, etc... because the main search engines spider those directories regularly for new pages. You can also submit your site to the main search engines manually but don't do this too often. If you are already listed there is no need to submit it again. You only need to submit your main website url if all the pages can be found from there.

2) The title of your page is very important. It caries heavy weight in the ranking criteria of the major search engines and should include your most important keywords. It is also the text that users click on to get to your site and should be written like an advertisement.

Your Title

3) The meta keyword tag helps search engines find your page. List your keywords separated by commas. Use upper and lower case but do not repeat keywords in the same case.

4) The meta description tag provides a description for the search engines to place just below your title. It also helps search engines find you, so you should include your most important keywords.
